UPDATE: Dublin Airport Authority, Siobhan O’Donnell has confirmed that the alarm was set off by someone smoking in the toilet.
“As normal procedure we had to evacuate the building to make sure there was nothing more sinister.”
“We had to take all the necessary precautions and go through all the security checks,” she said.
Dublin Airport Terminal 2 has resumed normal operations following a brief evacuation of the airport.
The airport was evacuated shortly before 9am.
An airport spokesperson has confirmed that the evacuation was due to a fire alarm going off.
Twitter users are suggesting the evacuation was the result of a passenger smoking in the toilet.
