Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next few weeks.
Turn Off The Lights
This may seem like energy-saving 101 but you’d be surprised the amount of people who regularly go out and actually forget to turn off the lights on these dark mornings.
Believe it or not but lighting actually accounts for 19 per cent of the average household’s electricity bill. Something as simple as remembering to switch off the lights when you nip to shops or turning off the landing light at night time could save you up to €15 a year. It doesn’t seem like much but in the grand scheme of things, most of us would rather have an extra €15 at the end of the year, right?
Another great way of saving money is to unplug appliances that have a light on when they’re idle (think televisions, DVD players and mobile phones/laptop chargers).
Before you leave the house, spend five minutes making sure that you’ve switch off all the lights. Your bank balance will thank you for it!
