A restaurant employee has rewarded a family with a discount because of the behaviour of their children during the outing.
The receipt, which made its way online earlier this week, shows that the server gave the party money off their meal for their “well-behaved kids.”
But when the image was put up on Reddit, it received quite the reaction with many saying that children ought to behave well in public and that it should be an expectation therefore not rewarded in such a way.
A woman claiming to be the mother in question then explained what happened: “My family (me, husband, 2 year old, 3 year old and 8 year old) went out to dinner Friday evening at a small restaurant in Poulsbo… This kind of reward was not expected and probably not something they do regularly.”
She continued: “Frankly, it is not the kind of restaurant you often see young children at. Our server visited our table toward the end of our dinner and remarked at how the entire serving staff hadn’t even noticed there were young children at our table. They brought us a bowl of ice cream to share and we saw this little nugget of goodness on out tab at the end of our meal.”
Another commenter also said that they were related to the woman who gave the discount and that their mother simply “appreciated the exceptional behaviour that the children had.”
Who’d have thought that well-behaved kids could get you money off and ice cream?!
