So the NRJ Music Awards didn’t turn out to be the event at which they revealed their reunion. In fact the night served up a few ground-please-swallow-me-up moments for former flames Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
But, contrary to what you might have thought, those moments didn’t arise from a face-to-face encounter on the red carpet. They happened on stage instead.
Firstly Taylor, who we have to admit looked absolutely stunning in her dress, took to the stage to perform her hit song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
Taylor looked fabulous on the red carpet before taking to the stage.
This would have no doubt made Harry, who also performed with One Direction, squirm in his seat especially as the 23-year-old seemed to sing it with a bit more gusto than usual.
But even more cringe-worthy than that was the moment that the host of the awards started to talk to Taylor in French post-song.
You see the pop star started answering his English questions in French. He then asked her a question in French which she met with a somewhat blank look, forcing him to repeat the question in English.
One Direction picked up the award for Best International Song.
And while we have all had a holiday moment like that (when you try to use your phrasebook to good effect and then wish you hadn’t when the waiter comes out with a paragraph of Portuguese!) we weren’t in front of a huge audience or our famous ex.
