Pink Might Make the Boys Wink – But It’s Leaving the Ladies Cold…

Pink is a passion killer? It seems to be so, as the shade has been voted the least appealing when it comes to men's shirts...

A baby pink dress for some Saturday night dancing, those hot pink shoes to funk up that black number, or a cerise wrap to bring some colour into winter dressing… there are lots of ways we’re happy to introduce some ‘Pretty in Pink’ into our lives. But if the menfolk do the same, it seems we’re not so keen!

Though pink shirts have enjoyed a considerable presence in the high-street stores for the last number of years, it seems as though it’s not a colour we go wild for on a man. In fact, pink came LAST in a choice of shirt colours when 2,000 women were asked what looks best when you’re spotting a stranger on the dancefloor.

If the poor chap is wearing pink his chances of attracting positive attention are pretty poor, with pink attracting only 6 per cent of the vote. Blue didn’t fare much better with only 11 per cent of women saying blue is their top choice.

So what do we want to see the men sporting then?

Well, it looks as though it’s passionate purple for the win! A whopping 36 per cent of women chose a purple shirt as their top look, with black in second place with 32 per cent.  The classic crisp white shirt had to settle for third with 13 per cent of the vote.

The survey was carried out to launch the new My Ariel campaign from laundry brand Ariel, and they’ve also given us an incredible competition prize to pass on to you! The survey was conducted in association with Ariel to launch the laundry brand’s TV ad campaign ‘My Ariel’ which is themed around people’s real life clothing stories. Visit www.facebook.com/ArielUKandIRE for further information and to watch the videos.
