Forget Freezing Temperatures, Delayed Trains And Crazy Commuting Times, Today Is Officially The Most Depressing Day Of The Year

Are you feeling a little under the weather?

Some people claim it was last Monday but psychologist Cliff Arnall says Monday of the last full week of January is the most depressing day of the year and the weather, broken resolutions and last month’s pay packet petering out are to blame.

Arnall who is a former Cardiff University lecturer used a combination of factors to identify the date, including the weather, how far away we are from payday and the time passed since Christmas and found that many people still felt deflated after the December festivities.

But, all’s not lost! Several businesses have jumped on the Blue Monday bandwagon and are now using the depressing day as a PR stunt to boost their profiles.

Centra are offering tea and coffee for 1c along with any other purchase today to help us all feel a little bit better about things.

Cheer yourself us with a cheap coffee!

A spokesperson for the convenience store said: “This will leave customers with a little more money in their pocket and a warm drink to help cheer up the hectic morning commute, lunch break dash or long journey home.”

We expect lots more retailers to follow suit. Have you heard of any other great deals happening today?
