Nigella Lawson is the lady in the spotlight to applaud this week…
In a promo poster for the upcoming ABC reality TV show The Taste, the 53-year-old “Queen of Food Porn” wouldn’t let the advertising team airbrush out her stomach.
The reality show, set to premiere on ABC on January 22nd, is “about tasting and judging food without ever knowing who has cooked it or what ingredients have been used”.
The cooking show has yet to start, but news is buzzing about the show’s judge, food writer and TV personality Nigella for standing up to the pesky airbushers!
Lawson wrote of the incident in her blog, Kitchen Writer:
“Although it was very thrilling to think of being up on a billboard in LA and around the States, I was very strict and English and told them they weren’t allowed to airbrush my tummy out. Wise? Hmmm. But that tum is the truth and is come by honestly, as my granny would have said.”
In the past, Nigella has described her body as naturally “bosomy and bottom with quite a small waist” and makes no apologies for it.
“I’m always going to be someone who goes up and down,” she told the Radio Times regarding her weight.
Though she admits that she minds it “only if I’m having my photograph taken,” she also adds, “But I don’t equate thinness with healthiness, as other people do, because I’ve only ever seen people get thin and then die.”
Fans have taken to Twitter to show their support for Nigella’s decision.
