From high-end designer labels to celebrities putting their creative inclination to good use, we have to admit, we’re a little bit jaded and dare we say cynical when it comes to high-street collaborations.
If like us you once set your alarm for an ungodly hour, queued in the freezing cold and then excitedly dashed around trying to snatch the coveted clothing being sold for a snip, you’ll appreciate the excitement and anticipation a collaboration used to bring – hello Stella McCartney for H&M. But in recent years they’ve all fallen a bit flat are the items that should have sold out in hours are usually the items limply lurking around the sale rail at the end of January.
Rihanna is the latest celeb to embark on a clothing collaboration and her River Island collection hits stores in March so in an effort to give the line a little bit more fashwan kudos, the singer will be showing off her sartorial offerings at an exclusive event during London Fashion Week next month.

A behind-the-scenes glimpse of Ri-Ri’s collection
We showed you a sneak peak of the first dabble in design back in December and have to admit that we weren’t overly impressed but this is the first time the high-street store has attempted anything of this magnitude and we’re more than a little excited.
The invitation-only event will take place on February 16th and we’re intrigued to see what the Barbadian bombshell’s full collection will look like. Will Ri-Ri be providing the soundtrack to the show a la her recent Victoria’s Secret performance? Will she be putting that rocking bod of hers to good use and modelling the clothes? Will she be Instagramming up a storm back stage?

Rihanna is no stranger to the catwalk herself…
Speaking about the upcoming event, Rihanna said: “Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me. I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege. I can’t wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press!”
One thing’s for sure, the show is going to be one of the most hotly anticipated in the LFW schedule.
The Rihanna for River Island Collection will be available to buy in stores and online from March 5th.
