We Applaud The Down-To-Earth Royal For Being A Frugal Fashionista

It’s been revealed that Kate Middleton wore a high-street brand for her first official portrait. But which retailer got the Duchess’ seal of approval?

The answer is French Connection. Kate is a fan of the label’s chic and understated aesthetic; she choose to wear a navy tie-neck top during her first sitting for artist Paul Emsley.

And shucks, if you were a savvy shopper you could have snapped up the Silky Tie Top in French Connection’s January sale for a bargain-busting sum of €34. Unfortunately for any copyKates out there the top has since sold out.

This wasn’t just a once off either as Kate is an avid supporter of high-street fashion. The mum-to-be wore a deep red chiffon dress by Whistles for the official unveiling of the portrait at London’s National Portrait Gallery.

But the pregnant Princess kept her baby bump well hiden as the long-sleeved design which featured a dark velvet waistband showed not a hint of a swollen tum!
