It’s a confession that will prove his critics through the years right, and break the hearts of his remaining loyal fans.
Tonight, cyclist Lance Armstrong filmed his highly anticipated television interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Though the interview is not set to air until Thursday, The Associated Press are now reporting that a person “familiar with the situation” has said that Lance confessed to Oprah that he used performance-enhancing drugs to win the Tour de France.
The source spoke on condition of anonymity, but the claim will not come as a shock to many who have been following the story. Earlier today, Rae Bazzarre, director of communications for Livestrong, the charitable organisation founded by Armstrong, said that the disgraced cyclist met with workers in person at their office in Austin, Texas ahead of the interview.
“Lance came to the Livestrong Foundation’s headquarters today for a private conversation with our staff and offered a sincere and heartfelt apology for the stress they’ve endured because of him and urged them to keep up their great work fighting for people affected by cancer”, said Bazzarre.
This move led many to believe a confession was indeed on the cards, and Oprah herself added fuel to the fire, tweeting in advance of the recording to say that Lance was ready for his “no holds barred” interview, and again in the past hour to say they had “just wrapped”, adding that the taping took “more than 2 1/2 hours . He came READY!”

Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France medal wins in 2012 after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said the American was involved in the most sophisticated, professional and successful doping programme that sport has ever seen.
