“Who’s Oscar?” – Academy’s Youngest Ever Nominee Talks Us Through Her Red Carpet Style

The pint-sized phenomenon is taking it all in her stride

When we were nine, we spent our days playing Barbie, climbing trees and struggling to master pesky long division but for one impressive young actress, the next couple of days are going to be as far away from normal as you can imagine.

As well as attending school as normal, the tiny thespian will also be deciding what to wear on the red carpet of the Oscars!

Quvenzhané Wallis, star of Beasts of the Southern Wild has become the youngest person to ever be nominated for the Best Actress Oscar and although she’s going to be the hottest topic of conversation on the night, the Louisiana native is refreshingly clueless about what the Oscars even are!

Speaking to The Grio, Quvenzhané (pronounced Kuh-VAHN-zuh-nay) also admits that she’s never watched the awards show and when Hollywood started to speculate that the film might garner a few coveted nominations, she apparently said “Who’s Oscar? I don’t know Oscar.” We love it!

Showing off her penchant for pooches at the LA Film Critics Association Awards

Although she’s now familiar with the awards show, the schoolgirl is still unsure about what she’s going to wear on the night but is open to all colours “except for black by itself” and isn’t interested in wearing a long-gown like the other nominees. “I might step on it” she explains.

So what designers could dress the star? Maybe she could look to our favourite mini style maverick Romeo Beckham and go for some Burberry or take a leaf out of Willow Smith’s book and go for some leftfield fashion choices.

And again at the Critics Choice Awards

Either way, we bet there are plenty of fashion houses desperate to dress the tiny tween and we hope they’ll accommodate her fluffy handbag obsession!
