Despite the fact that her dad absolutely hates the show, Kiera Dignam, the daughter of Aslan star Christy Dignam, will appear on The Voice of Ireland tomorrow night.
The Irish Daily Star reports that Christy has previously spoken out against the music programme, slamming it for the amount of focus that’s put on the celebrity judges rather than the contestants themselves.
“This was just going to be about the Voice of Ireland. It’s all about the judges! I can’t name one contestant on the show,” he said, speaking about the programme.
However, his dislike of the show hasn’t put off his daughter, 26-year-old Kiera, from applying. If anything, it spurred her on because she feels the show offers her a platform to perform without being in the shadow of her dad’s success.

Kiera’s dad has had worldwide success in the band Aslan
“I’ve been singing since I was 13, but I didn’t want to do it off my dad’s fame,” said Kiera.
“But Ireland’s small – it’s near impossible to sing without being associated with my dad. The Voice was one of the only places I could go where I knew I would be judge on my own merit,” she added.
You can catch Kiera’s performance on RTE One at 6.30pm tomorrow.
In other Voice of Ireland news, Jamelia is planning on celebrating her 32nd birthday in Dublin with her fellow coaches this weekend.
Tonight she’s set to appear on the Saturday Night Show with Bressie and Kian and then she’s planning on hitting the town.
