"I'm still discovering myself".

Tom Bleasby has revealed that he didn’t feel “vocally ready” for the X Factor

The Leeds lad has spoken out about his shock decision to leave the talent show, just days before he was due to appear in the Judge’s Houses round.

Speaking to ITV, the singer revealed that he suffered from insecurities and didn’t feel ready to take on the pressure.

He said: “It was a tough decision; I think I really discovered it at the 6 Chair Challenge. I just don’t know if I felt vocally ready to take on the competition and the pressure.

“I’ve never took to live performing very well. I’m still discovering myself and in the competition, there are some amazing singers and I feel like I need more time to get better myself, as I don’t feel like I’m strong enough.

“Moving forward, without being 100% would have been selfish on my part because I would have stopped someone else who was at 100% vocally from going further in the competition. Hopefully given time, I could get there with more time to grow artistically and vocally.”

The X Factor will continue this weekend, however it is not yet clear whether Tom will be replaced.

If producers do decide to replace him, we could soon see the return of either Nathanael Landskroner, Ollie Marland, Davide Papasidero, Tom Davies, Jordan Luke Gage, Danny Sharples, Brodie Kelly or Jamie Eldridge, who were all in Nick Grimshaw’s mentor group.
