What are the chances of a pet baby lion cub roaming the streets of Virginia?
Daniel Painter and his prized pup Charles The Monarch were enjoying an evening stroll in their hometown of Norfolk, Virginia when an over-excited passer-by mistook the uber groomed pooch for a lion, panicked and called 911 to say a zoo animal was on the loose.
Fearing the caller was right, the local police called the local zoo to make sure all their lions were accounted for but were reassured that none were missing.
Charles The Monarch, a three-year-old Labradoodle has been groomed to look like a lion by his owner Daniel and is now the official mascot of Old Dominion University in Virginia.
Speaking to the local paper, Painter confessed “”I tell people he’s a Lab-a-lion and half the people believe that” and Charles even has his own Facebook page with nearly 2,000 likes which we’re sure will increase thanks to his new found fame!
