First Look: The Spring/Summer Collection From High-Street Big Hitter Topshop

We pick our faves from  the retail giant’s new season style.

Have you fallen outta love with the trendy Topshop clobber and now consign it to your long gone teenage days? Or do you still meander in, hoping to find something you might actually wear even though you are in your, cough, late twenties/early thrities?

Well, welcome to the club. And you’re not alone as fellow bloggerette Rosemary laments her long lost love for the high-street store.

Sssh, here’s the secret… the trick is to buy online. You can simply avoid all the crop tops, patterned leggings, stonewashed denim etc that is clearly aimed at the cool kids. Trust us, picking out the smart stylish buys will be much easier from the comfort of your couch. You’ll also save a fortune on the frankly whack conversion rates that Topshop operates – there is a whopping difference between their sterling and euro prices. For example a beaded clutch we splashed out on before the holidays cost £28 but was priced at €43. Say what?! Point made.

Now for the good stuff. The oriental influence, seen in the image above, is a look that has been building momentum for the last few seasons. The prited silk, loose-fit blouse is gorgeous – the mix of floral with linear lines makes it really noteworthy.

Topshop have gone all out for the pattern trend referencing the playful prints of Holly Fulton, digital floral patterns that made Mary Karantzou famous and the graphic lines of Jonathan Saunders’ style.

We love these zig zag pattern trousers and have them earmarked as our first spring purchase. Along with all of these of course. And check out that fab day-glo beaded aztec pattern jacket. That is an investment piece that you’ll wear for years.
