How many times were you at Disneyland in 2012? How many times were you ever at Disneyland at all?
Chances are, even if you’ve been lucky enough to have a few trips as a kid, you haven’t been as many times as this American couple.
Tonya Mickesh and her boyfriend Jeff Reitz from Orange County, went through the turnstile at the front gate of Disneyland for the 366th time on December 31st, the couple visited Disneyland every single day of the leap year, 2012.
The couple, who met while on a diving excursion a few years ago, made the plan to hang out with Mickey Mouse and his friends daily because they were both unemployed. Though each ultimately got a full time job last year, they kept going, though sometimes they had to make the daily visit apart.
Their favourite ride is Space Mountain and Mickesh loves Pirates of the Caribbean. Reitz said his favourite is the Matterhorn.
Their least favourite ride is Splash Mountain, because it’s no fun walking around in wet pants they said.
As expert guests, they even have their favourite bathroom in the park.
“The one behind Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. ‘Because it has hot water,’ said Mickesh.
The couple really got their money’s worth out of their annual passes, impressive.
At $649 each, the couple went so often it worked out at a daily cost of $1.77.
The couple never got bored. They saw it as a chance to get exercise, they tracked their steps with a pedometer, relax, eat, see friends and take photos.
Reitz has uploaded an estimated 2,000 Disneyland photos to his Instagram account.
And to top it all off?
On their last visit, they were named “Honorary Citizens” of Disneyland.
They then returned the two following days, making that 368 consecutive days at the theme park.
In 2013, they said they probably won’t visit the park as often.
