Now, we don’t know about you but our biggest fear involves being trapped in an enclosed space with a gigantic spider – not gaining a few pounds over Christmas.
We’re all guilty of having a bit of a splurge over the festive period, however a new survey has revealed that most women would rather be dumped by their other half than stand on the scales after Christmas. Eh, what now?
Yes, apparently a third of us claim the post-Christmas weigh-in is one of our biggest fears whereas only 12 per cent of us are terrified of getting dumped.
The survey, which was carried out by Onken, revealed that the only thing we fear more than festive weight gain is a trip to the dentist, with 32 per cent of the women questioned stating that they dread th dentist’s chair more than anything else.
Other common fears for women included having a colleague see them naked, checking their bank balance after a shopping spree and taking a driving test. All of these things are fairly nerve-wracking but we fail to see how you can be terrified of putting on weight over Christmas. Sure doesn’t everybody put on a few pounds?

Get that scales away from me! Is weighing in during January your biggest fear?
Anyway, the survey found that most women delay their first step on the scales until January 8th (roughly two whole weeks after Christmas). Despite our fear though, 26 per cent of us do not put on as much weight over Christmas as we expect to.
“We need to let our hair down this January and not let the pressure of resolutions get to us,” said Laura Graham, a spokeswoman for Onken.
“With more women fearing stepping on the scales this New Year than being dumped, it goes to show that the pressure of facing their New Year’s demons is getting to the nation more than ever!” she added.
Alright then, we have to ask. Which would you fear most – getting dumped by the one you love or gaining a few pounds over Christmas?
