The Facebook Feature You’ve ALWAYS Wanted Is FINALLY Here

It’s happening.

All those cringey photo uploads, cryptic statuses and ranting posts are about to get deleted.

The news we’ve all been waiting for is finally here – Facebook has confirmed that you’ll be soon able to mark your distaste for something with a ‘dislike’ button.

The news was confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg himself, who added during a Q&A session:

I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years. Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it.”

So why have they avoided the step for so long?

Facebook didn’t want to become a place of negativity, with the creator adding:

That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world.”

The change of heart came when research carried out amongst users found that the lack of a dislike option meant that people felt there was no way to connect with others if the moment wasn’t marking a positive life change.

Explaining their reasoning, Zuckerberg said:

What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment.”

The company have yet to confirm how they hope to tackle cyber-bullying with the new tool, but hope to have the new option operating ‘very shortly’.
