Balloons, Brown’s Boys and Barbara: The Best of Tonight’s TV

Up – RTÉ One (5.10pm)

In this touching animated film an elderly man ties a number of balloons to his house so that he can fulfil his lifelong dream of going to South America.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special – BBC One (6.15pm)

Footballer Fabrice Muamba, model Kelly Brook and singer Rachel Stevens take part in this festive edition of the dancing show.

Downton Abbey – UTV (8.45pm)

The family gets a warm welcome at Duneagle Castle but tensions soon arise. There could also be romance on cards for Mrs Patmore.

Mrs Brown’s Boys – RTÉ One (9.45pm)

Agnes Brown is finally given permission to stage her own nativity play but Father Damien wants her to make a few last-minute changes to her unusual script.

The Royle Family Christmas Special – BBC One (9.45pm)

Barbara goes over the top with her presents this year after spending two hours in the Pound shop. The family also have a new neighbour.
