Everyone needs to update their phone now.

Unfortunately, accidents can happen while you’re totally alone. We can’t always predict what’s going to happen, when it will occur or who you’ll be with…

But did you know you can set your medical ID to your phone?

The handy little trick means your vital information can be accessed at all times (even when it’s locked).

The update has been shared by people in the medical profession who have noted that the handy hack could make all the difference in an A&E department.

So how do you set up your ‘Medical ID’ on your phone?

Simply click on the ‘Health’ app that comes as a default app on your phone.

Health Dashboard

When you’re in the Health app, select the ‘Health Data’ information as show below, which will bring up a list of options.

Health Data

The most relevant information such as name, DOB, emergency contacts, medical conditions and even blood type can be found in the two options ‘Me’ and ‘Vital Statistics’.

With an iPhone, you can personalise your Medical ID to keep your important health information in case of emergency.

Once this is saved, turn on ‘Show When Locked’ to make your Medical ID available from the Lock screen. This lets people helping you in an emergency get important information about you. They’ll also be able to contact people you’ve entered as emergency contacts.

So how will the information be accessible?

The emergency info will be available in the Medical ID tab here:
