Christmas can be an expensive time, especially if you make up one half of a couple. When it comes to buying a gift for your man, the cost can quickly spiral out of control.
So how can you keep the romance alive and show your man that you care about him without spending an absolute fortune this festive season?
Here are a few ideas that you can use instead of forking out for an expensive gift or to complement what you’re already after buying him.
Write him a love letter: Despite what they would have you believe, men are in touch with their emotions. And nothing shows someone how much you care about them like a handwritten love letter. It’s a deeply personal gift and is definitely one that he won’t be expecting. Sit down, express yourself freely and watch his face light up on Christmas morning when he reads about just how much you love him.
Make him a hamper: Instead of buying him one giant present, why not buy him a few smaller (and cheaper!) gifts and make them into a hamper. Get a box, fill it with shredded paper and put all your presents for him in it. Throw in a few of his favourite sweets/drinks and a few little trinkets that you know he’ll love. This gift will make a massive impact visually but will cost half the price of spending all your money on a big present.

Make his Christmas with a thoughtful one-of-a-kind present
Make him a play list: Giving your crush a mixtape is a dying art form, so why not mix things up this Christmas and put a special playlist on your man’s iPod? Fill it with songs that remind you of dates and, most importantly, of him. It’s simple, it’s thoughtful and if your man is into music he’ll love this.
Make a scrapbook: Buy a plain notebook and fill it with photographs, tickets stubs and various other mementoes from your relationship. Draw funny pictures, write silly stories and turn your notebook into a scrapbook that documents the highs of your relationship. If you have any blank pages left when you’re finished, tell your man to go through the book every now and then because you’ll be adding more and more to it until it’s finished.
King for a day: Tell your man that instead of buying him a Christmas present, you’re going to treat him like a king for one day only. Bring him breakfast in bed, treat him to a trip to the cinema, do whatever he wants to do – this will show your man how much you care and make him feel super-special. And hey, who knows? Maybe he’ll return the favour and give you a ‘queen for a day’ pass on Valentine’s day.
