Say it isn't so!

According to reports tonight, One Direction will split up next March following the release of their fifth studio album.

A source spoke to Dan Wootton, head of showbiz at The Sun: “The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband.

“They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects.

There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.

“It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future.

“But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world’s most popular music act.”

It’s thought that the four 1D members, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan will team up again at some point in the future.

Reports say the group will take some time off over Christmas and then in 2016, they will regroup to fulfil their promotional commitments before splitting up in March.

The One Direction story started on the 2010 X Factor under Simon Cowell’s guidance and they’ve since gone on to top the music charts in over 100 countries.

They suffered a blow when Zayn Malik quit the band earlier this year.

One Direction are currently in the midst of their On The Road Again tour and it continues with UK dates next month.
