She is best known for offering and serving up copious amounts of tea in Father Ted but now Pauline McLynn is expanding her horizons with a habit.

The actress is said to be taking on a number of roles in the New Year including that of a nasty nun in a film. Seems like all those years with Father Ted and Dougal have paid off!

In her most famous role to date: Pauline as Mrs Doyle.

But that’s not all, she is also due to play Jason Byrne’s mum in his new show Father Figure which was recently picked up by the BBC.

The series is about the relationship between Irish and English in-laws with Pauline playing the Irish comedian’s onscreen mother.

The actress is due to play Byrne’s mother in his new television show.

Speaking about it to the Irish Independent, she said: “It’s going to be really funny, I’ve no doubt. Jason loves visual comedy, like I do, so there’ll be a lot of falling over and physical stuff on set.”

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg as the popular star is also appearing in Common Ground, a series of comedy shorts, as a homeless person. Talk about being able to do everything!
