It’s hardly surprising that Hugh Jackman regrets not taking the role of James Bond considering that Skyfall has just been revealed as the highest-grossing film ever in the UK.
The Australian star was apparently offered the role back when they were casting for Casino Royale but turned it down. Crazy, we know!
Hugh was reportedly offered the role of James Bond in Casino Royale.
He told The Sun newspaper: “At the time it was wrong for me, but when I saw Daniel (Craig) in the movie I thought maybe I should have been more interested, because it was great.”
Now it appears that Hugh is waiting for Craig to hang up his hat, which he is reportedly keen to do despite the success of the latest instalment and being signed on for at least two more films.
Hugh joked: “I will just wait. The good thing about Daniel is he’s, what, 62 now, isn’t he? He’s falling apart at the seams.
“So I just keep telling him, ‘I’m ready, whenever you want to let him go, I’m ready.’ The good thing is I have also got a British passport.”
Not that he’s short of work, he stars in the big screen version of Les Misérables.
Ever the gentleman the Les Misérables actor admitted that Craig did do a great job: “But I am great mates with Daniel… no one could have played Bond better.”
Bet he’s thinking deep down “except me!”
