Light The Fire, Make The Cocoa And Put Your Feet Up With A Must Have Christmas Boxsets

There is never a more acceptable time to indulge in a boxset than December so warm up that DVD player and get set for a toasty month on the couch!

Her

Nothing beats slipping into your fleece pajamas and cosying up in front of a roaring fire, that is unless Santa has kindly dropped a gripping new boxset underneath the tree.

Whether you want to relive the old moments of your favourite series or throw yourself into something completely new, the Her.ie girls have been on the look out for the best boxsets this Christmas.

This is the year to ditch the soaps and pop these bad boys into the player. Now all we need is someone to make us a mug of cocoa!

The One You May Have Missed:

Nowadays, you may recognise Michael C. Hall as serial killer Dexter Morgan but in the Noughties the actor starred in the dark comedic gem Six Feet Under. The HBO series dives into life within a small, family-owned funeral home in California and its dysfunctional occupants. This series is a must see and is completely gripping throughout its five seasons. Six Feet Under Complete Collection, €51, Amazon

The One Everyone Is Talking About:

We can’t log onto Twitter or Facebook without yet another one of our friends raving about The Walking Dead. We somehow missed the boat on this one so it is definitely on our Christmas wish list. The series begins when a sheriff’s deputy wakes up from a deep coma to find his world dominated by flesh eating zombies. He sets out on a mission to find other survivors encountering many horrors along the way. The season is in the middle of its third season. The Walking Dead Season One, €19, HMV

The One That Took Home The Emmys:

Claire Danes and Damian Lewis happily trotted home with their Emmy Awards earlier this year and Homeland is definitely a show that will keep you entertained episode by episode. The show focuses on a Marine who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq. However, a CIA agent suspects that he may be plotting a terrorist attack on the nation. Homeland Season One, €29.99, Xtra-Vision

The One That’s A Classic:

Christmas is sometimes about indulging in an old favourite and what could be better than our old friend Tony Soprano? The gangster was a firm favourite in Noughties and by now we’ve practically forgotten all the storylines. The series is a great one to watch with the man in your life. The Sopranos Complete Box Set, €60, HMV

The Irish One:

Love/Hate has recently returned to our screens but if you haven’t caught the first few series it’s well worth picking up for Christmas. The crime drama has quickly become one of the nation’s favourite shows and delves into the scary, seedy world of Dubin’s gangs. Love/Hate Season One and Two, €7.99 and €9.99, Xtra-vision

The One Perfect For Christmas:

Obama’s wife can’t get enough and neither can we. The Her.ie girls are completely obsessed with Downton Abbey and if you haven’t been watching it is definitely worth investing in this classy and exciting series. Set in the fictional Yorkshire estate of Downton, this series depicts the life of the Grantham family and their servants in the early twentieth century. Downton Abbey Seasons One Two and Three, €49.99, Xtra-vision
