Fans of Lisbeth Salander are about to become reunited with their favourite heroine, after David Lagercrantz has confirmed his sequel will be released later this summer.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web will be written by David Lagercrantz, who completed Stieg Larsson’s Millenium series – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest – following the author’s death in 2004.
The latest book in the series is now due to be released on August 27th, with some first details shared with fans this morning.
The story continues on from the 2009 novel, following hacker Salander as she targets the US National Security Agency in the new book.
Journalist Blomkvist will also feature in the book, as well as his magazine Millenium.

Lagercrantz has confirmed that when writing Spider’s Web, he stayed true to Larsson’s writing style and has made use of the “vast mythology he left behind”.
Larsson’s trilogy sold more than 80 million copies around the world.
It is believed Larsson had intended to write several more novels before dying suddenly of a heart attack in 2004.
