There’s one for everybody in the audience!
Except no, there’s not.
RTÉ have issued a warning this evening about a text message scam concerning the legendary Late Late Toy Show.
The national broadcaster warned that there are text messages in circulation informing recipients that they have won tickets to the Toy Show and in order to claim there prize they must ring a premium number or complete an online process. The full statement on the Twitter page of The Late Late Show read:
“It has come to RTÉ’s attention that there are reports of a number of text messages in circulation claiming that the recipient has won tickets to The Late Late Toy Show and that in order to claim the tickets one needs to call a premium number or go online.
RTÉ wishes to make it clear that there are no tickets for The Late Late Toy Show available by this method and these text messages are not from RTÉ and we would urge the public not to respond to these text messages.”
Tickets to the Irish television institution are akin to tickets to Willy Wonka’s factory in this country, so we can only imagine how excited unsuspecting people who received the texts must have been, only to have their hopes of seeing Ryan Tubridy up close and personal, (in a Christmas jumper), dashed.
So it seems the poor sods who got the messages will be stuck at home on the couch watching everyone else get freebies just like the rest of us. It’s either that or become an emergency member of the Billie Barry Kids team.
Here’s a hint as to what’s in store for Friday night’s show…
