The age old sibling rivalry looks sets to continue, with new research proving that older siblings have higher IQs.
The research, conducted by the University of Illinois, analysed 377,000 high school students, ranking their intelligence by family chronology.
The study found that older siblings have a higher IQ – by one point.
The research, published in the Journal of Research in Personality, also found first borns in the family to be more outgoing, agreeable and conscientious.
As well as the personality traits, it is suggested that older siblings are less likely to experience anxiety than their younger siblings.
The study is the biggest in history looking at birth order and personality in families.
