How do you spend your time on the morning or evening commute?
According to a recent survey carried out by Dublin Bus, 67 per cent of us use the bus most often for a school and work commute. It seems we’re not up to much in the morning, with over 12 per cent of us use that time to grab an extra little snooze.
Otherwise 62 per cent of us spend our time on the bus browsing the internet with 67 per cent of sessions lasting between 20 and 60 minutes.
When scanning the faces of other bus passengers (people watching is a skill, you know), 23 per cent of us have said hello to someone we didn’t know. When we did see someone we knew, and didn’t want to talk to them, 21 per cent of us have pretended to be on a phone call to avoid the conversation.
However, all is not lost in human attraction as 23 per cent have admitted to having a crush on a fellow bus passenger and even 15 per cent of us have gotten off at the wrong stop just to chat to somebody who is getting off. Elsewhere 31 per cent of us have missed our stop because we fell asleep.
We have a long memory too, with 68 per cent of us remembering our bus number from when we were a child and in what seems to be a unique attribute to Ireland, 90 per cent of passengers always say thank you to their driver.
