And in the feel-good story of the week…
‘Tiny Dancer’ by A Song For Lily-Mae has hit the Number 1 spot on iTunes today, less than 24 hours after its release.
Earlier this week, we told how over 300 volunteers had come together to record a version of the Elton John classic in order to raise fund for the treatment of four-year-old Lily-Mae Morisson from Galway, who suffers from an aggressive form of childhood cancer.
Paddy Casey, Declan O’Rourke and Mary Black were just some of the many talented Irish musicians who offered their time to the beautiful recording, which has already been viewed over 50,000 times on YouTube.
The effort got an incredible stamp of approval on Wednesday of this week when Elton John himself gave his backing. The legendary artist had a message about the cover on his website, facebook and twitter pages, encouraging his fans to support the drive.
The volunteers who made this happen are aiming for the Christmas No.1 spot in Ireland this year, and are hoping that the sing will raise both funds for Lily-Mae’s treatment and also general awareness of Neuroblastoma, the cancer little Lily-Mae suffers from.

Number one – Lily-Mae has made it to the top of the iTunes chart
So the summit has been reached, now it is just a case of staying there. A Song for Lily-Mae will be up against the behemoth that is the X Factor winner’s single in the coming weeks, along with countless other releases due before Christmas. To keep it sitting atop the charts, you can download on iTunes for just €1.
Good luck Lily-Mae!
