I’m a Television Boss… Get Me Out of Here: Brian Conley Exit Raises Questions Over Show’s Clearance Process

He isn't the first contestant to leave the show early because of medical grounds but his exit from the jungle has raised questions about the show's pre-jungle psychiatric assessments.

He might be out of the jungle and recuperating but Brian Conley’s exit from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here has sparked an investigation into the show’s psychiatric assessments of the star.

According to The Sun, bosses have launched a review of their background checks following the comedian’s demise and subsequent exit from the show.

Brian quit the jungle after ten days and had to be rushed to hospital although he is now said to be recovering at a private home with his wife Anne-Marie and two daughters.

TV personality Brian lasted ten days down under before he had to leave.

His representative said: “We can confirm Brian Conley has been discharged from hospital and is delighted to be back with his family recuperating.”

But this doesn’t mark the end of the scandal. Both Brian’s wife and show bosses want to know how he, who has previously talked about his battles with depression and alcoholism, was ever allowed to take part in the ITV show.

An insider told the newspaper: “We have to ask some serious questions about the decision to approve Brian as a contestant.”

The pressure of the situation was clearly starting to take its toll.

Brian’s wife Anne-Marie also reportedly voiced concerns about how long it took for the programme to take action. The entertainer was clearly struggling to cope as he broke down following an exchange with boxer David Haye.

It was announced the next day that Brian had left the show on medical grounds. However the real issue now is whether he should have been in there at all.

Last night MP Nadine Dorries was the first contestant to be eliminated from the show.
