This week it was revealed that a new television series based on Sabrina the Teenage Witch was going to be made. Not only that but that it was going to be an Irish co-production and different to the 90s favourite.

According to the Irish Film and Television Network the animated series, entitled Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch, has been picked up by a US television network called The Hub.

The series, due to air in America next year, is a reworking of the original series starring Melissa Joan Hart which lasted an impressive seven years.

Again this new show will look at the teenage witch, who lives in a mortal realm with her two aunts who are also witches, as she tries to keep her magical abilities a secret and survive her teenage years.

Ashley Tisdale, of High School Musical fame, will be voicing the famous witch while Dean Batali, who was involved in both That 70s Show and Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be writing it.

Speaking about the programme Jon Goldwater, Co-CEO of Archive Comics who were the original creators of the character said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Telegael and Moonscoop for this exciting new era of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”
