He is in one of the most successful boy bands ever and, at the moment, he is still part of one of the most successful shows ever. So it didn’t come as a surprise, when it was announced earlier this year, that Gary Barlow was going to get an OBE.
The Take That singer will return to Buckingham Palace today to receive the order, much to Simon Cowell’s annoyance, which acknowledges and celebrates his contribution to the entertainment industry.

Gary was in charge of the Diamond Jubilee concert earlier this year.
This year has been a particularly busy year for the pop star who took charge of organising the Diamond Jubilee concert and was also responsible for writing and recording the anthem, Sing, which topped the charts during the summer.
But Gary isn’t the only one in line to be honoured today as actress Kate Winslet is due to get a CBE for her contribution to the world of drama which included her lead role in the 1997 hit Titanic. Northern Irish golfer Darren Clarke, who played a role in the European team’s incredible Ryder Cup victory this year, will also be getting an OBE.

Kate Winslet is also due to recieve a CBE today for her work in the world of acting.
