We all remember the balloon house from the Disney film UP right? Well ladies, a daredevil explorer has only just gone and made a real life one. Oh, and he’s planning on flying it (via balloon) across the Atlantic Ocean (as you do like).
Metro reports that adventurer Jonathan Trappe was inspired by the touching animated film in which the main character fulfils his lifelong dream of seeing South America by building a balloon house.
Jonathan, from North Carolina, debuted his take on the balloon house from UP at the Leon International Balloon festival in Mexico two days ago. He used the event as a warm-up for his transatlantic flight across the Atlantic scheduled for next summer.
“I didn’t wake up one day and think: ‘I’m going to fly across the Atlantic,’” he said, speaking recently.
“Every attempt before this was geared towards this flight. I’ve been training for a long time,” he added.

This isn’t Jonathan’s first balloon-related adventure. Oh no. In 2010 he became the first person to fly across the English Channel while attached to helium-filled balloons. Nice.
“It’s about living an interesting life – for me as the pilot and those watching,” said Jonathan.
“So, one day we can look back and say: ‘Humankind were able to pull this off. They did it,’” he added.
