Before you spit out your mouthwash, hear us out.

The American Dental Association has laid out the costs associated with tooth decay… and it’s a fair chunk of change.

The group point out that forgetting to floss is a big culprit of tooth decay, which often leads to a root canal costing up to €1,500. For those who don’t learn from their mistakes, people with gum disease have higher chances of developing heart disorders, which can lead to coronary bypass surgery racking up a cool €43,000.

So next time you’re in a rush out the door for the bus, remember to floss.

It could be a life (and money) saver.
