Seven Problems Only Messy People Will Understand

God bless this mess

emma lahiffe

“Sorry I’m late, I was tidying the house,” said no messy person ever.

The world is filled with two types of people; those who see mess and those who don’t. It’s really straightforward.

The ‘can’t get into bed without hanging up everything’ types sit on the neat and tidy side of the fence, while the rest of us throw off our clothes and jump happily into our unmade beds on the other.

Here are seven problems only truly messy people will understand. Which side of the fence are you on?

1. You’re constantly losing things

Keys, hairbrushes, bras, tops, bank cards, sunglasses. Nothing is safe. When you eventually get around to tackling the mess in your room, it’s like going shopping. Long-lost lipsticks, important documents, socks, earrings and a whole lot more treasures appear from the mess.

2. Last-minute visitors really stress you out

Yeah, you’re fine with your room looking like a pigsty. But you’re not so happy at the idea of other people being let in on your little secret.

3. Your handbag is like a bombsite

Receipts, chewing gum, necklaces, sunglasses cases, cinema tickets, 3D glasses, parking tickets, half-eaten snacks, coins, empty pain killer boxes, crumpled post-its, ancient No.7 Boots vouchers. These are just some of the things hiding at the bottom of your trusty bag.

4. Your bed is always unmade

Because let’s face it:

5. You never wear matching socks

Because that would require finding matching socks. And that just ain’t happening.

6. When the urge to tidy hits you, you never know where to start…

Make the bed? Clean the bathroom? Hoover? Laundry?

Your solution? Don’t do any of it. Leave it all for another day.

7. You know your housemates judge you…

And they leave you notes and send you texts about not doing your share of the cleaning. You feel bad, but you don’t see the mess. And after all:
