Two years ago we had to wave goodbye to one of the best soap characters in Coronation Street and now we have to say goodbye to the talented actor that played him.
Bill Tarmey, also known as Jack Duckworth, passed away on Thursday morning in Tenerife at the age of seventy-one. He is survived by his wife Alma and two children, Carl and Sara.
Bill played the role of Jack Duckworth in Corrie for 31 years.
The family released a statement saying: “The family of Bill Tarmey have confirmed that he sadly passed away this morning in Tenerife.
“They have respectfully asked the media for privacy as they grieve for a wonderful husband, father and brother.”
Jack and Vera are one of the most famous soap couples of all time.
According to reports, the cast of the popular ITV soap are also “devastated” and have sent their love and prayers to his family.
Bill played the role of Jack, who was married to Vera, on the soap for over 30 years. He left the street in 2010 to spend more time with his family.
