It’s the best news we’ve heard in, like, ages and we have no doubt that it’s going to be totally rad and just the best thing ever! It is of course the musical version of Clueless.
For the last three years talk of a stage show based on the hit 1995 film, starring Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd, has been rife but nothing has been confirmed until now.

There were some incredible tunes in the original big screen flick.
In a recent interview for Vulture, director Amy Heckerling revealed her plans for the production: “I’m working with Kristen Hanuggi, who directed Rock of Ages. I want it to be a jukebox musical.
“There’s a lot of songs that could work there, like Fantastic Voyage with its ‘slide, slide, slippity slide.’ A lot of things could lead to you getting conked. We used Kids in America in Clueless, but it was one of the songs I was considering for Fast Times, before I knew it I could get the Go-Gos.”
Sounds like our sort of show! But unfortunately it seems we won’t be seeing Silverstone reprise her role as the ditzy but endearing Cher Horowitz as Heckerling admitted she has no plans of changing the original story.

It doesn’t look like the original cast will be in the stage version.
“That would be a blast to have her in it. But I’m not updating it – it’s fun to keep it in that time period,” she explained.
While we would love to see the familiar faces, we certainly wouldn’t want to see the plot altered. And yes, that includes the Dionne’s flamboyant hats and Cher’s yellow plaid skirt suit!
