Emeli Sandé picked up not one, not two but three MOBO awards at the weekend adding to the incredible year she has had in the world of music.

As well as taking home the award for Best Album, for Our Version of Events, the 25-year-old Scottish singer also took home Best Female and Best R&B/Soul.

But it wasn’t all play and no work. Emeli opened the ceremony with a rendition of My Kind of Love.

Emeli took to the stage at the beginning of the night.

Speaking to reporters about the evening, she said: “I really didn’t expect to win three and getting the Album of the Year was a big thing for me, so I feel like all the hard work pays off when you get acknowledgement like that”.

And she wasn’t the only one to have her hands full of gongs. Plan B took home two awards for Best Male Act and Best Hip Hop/Grime.

Rita Ora was also among the artists to take home a gong.

Rita Ora won Best Newcomer while Nicki Minaj claimed Best International and JLS took home the Best Video award for their single Do You Feel What I Feel?

The MOBO Awards celebrate music of black origin and take place in the UK every year.
