Mel B’s estranged mother has made a renewed attempt on Twitter this afternoon to end the rift between her and the singer on Mel’s 40th birthday.
In a series of tweets marking the occasion, Andrea Brown wished her daughter a happy birthday, including throwback snaps of the former X-Factor presenter as a teen:

The second tweet shows Andrea applying lip gloss to toddler Mel, with a sweet caption telling the star how much she is missed:

The pair are believed to have fallen out in 2008, when Andrea told media that she disapproved of her daughter’s relationship with husband Stephan Belafonte.
The rift continued to grow, and last Christmas Andrea accused her son-in-law of lying about Mel’s health condition when she failed to make the semi-final of the X-Factor.
Both Andrea and Mel’s sister Danielle accused Stephen Belafonte of being both physically and verbally abusive to Mel B.
Despite her attempts to bridge the gap, Mel has not responded to either Andrea or sister Danielle since the fallout and has continued to put on a united front with her husband.
