Band member Sean Walsh spoke out earlier today to explain the reasoning behind their decision.
“Even though it’s a huge opportunity to play in the 02 with a major hip hop star and a substantial fee was offered, we are completely against Chris Brown’s assault on Rihanna. In addition, with our latest single Blue Eyes being about domestic violence it goes against everything we are about as a band and supporting Chris Brown would send out the wrong message to our fans,” says Sean Walsh, the band’s ukulele player.
We’re glad you stuck to your guns boys and didn’t become sell outs, no matter how much moolah was on the table.
The band’s single Blue Eyes is released November 9th; their debut album This Life hits the shops on November 16th.
Even though the band won’t be performing with Chris Brown, the band has worked with other musical superstars such as Professor Green, Maverick Sabre, Example and Rizzle Kicks. The band has also just completed Irish tour dates supporting both The Script and Cheryl Cole.
It doesn’t seem like these lads are short of a few A-list chums to jam with!
The Original Rudeboys play two shows (all ages matinee and over 18’s evening) at The Academy in Dublin on December 22nd.
