Scandal, Schwarzenegger and Sweet Home Alabama: The Best of Tonight’s TV

We've got something for everyone tonight including a new series, a romantic comedy and an old favourite...

Rebecca McKnight

The bank holiday weekend is within touching distance. To get you through that last evening, here are some shows for you to check out on the small screen.

Waterloo Road – BBC One (8:00pm)

Not a week goes by that there’s not some sort of drama at Waterloo Road. From Christine going off at her son Connor for wanting to spend time with his girlfriend to Lorraine wanting to get rid of the pupils who aren’t performing well, it’s all kicking off in the last episode of this year.

Scandal – More4 (9:00pm)

Who doesn’t love a new show? Especially when it sounds as good as this one! Kerry Washington plays a young lawyer whose first case is to clear the name of a respected war veteran who has been charged with murder.

Sweet Home Alabama – Sky Living (9:00pm)

Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey star in this romantic comedy about a fashion designer who returns home to Alabama to get a divorce from her childhood sweetheart so that she can get married again. But as with these sorts of films, it’s not all that straightforward.

MasterChef Ireland – RTÉ Two (9:30pm)

The 12 amateur cooks are separated into two groups this evening. They then have to prepare two main courses as well as two side dishes and one dessert for those taking part in the Kilkenny Triathlon.

The Graham Norton Show – 3e (10:00pm)

If you haven’t caught it already, the first episode of the new series of The Graham Norton Show is definitely worth tuning in for. The Cork funny man chats to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Miranda Hart and Ronnie Corbett.
