A military plane has crashed at Seville airport in Spain.

Sky News reports that several people were killed in the crash but the defence ministry has not yet confirmed the number of deaths.

Mariano Rajoy, the Spanish prime minister, said that up to ten crew members were on board the brand new Airbus A400M aircraft.

It is thought that the aircraft was undergoing flight trials at the time of the crash.

Seville airport has closed and flights are being diverted to Malaga and Jerez airports.
