Saying goodbye to a glittering sports career can’t be easy.
So when former Irish captain Brian O’Driscoll decided to pay tribute to Gordon D’Arcy ahead of his retirement after the Rugby World Cup, he did it in his usual hilarious way.
O’Driscoll and D’Arcy played alongside each other for both province and country, and like any good friend or brother, they know slagging is the most sincere Irish form of affection.
With that in mind, O’Driscoll paid tribute to the Wexford man with this brilliant throwback snap:
What an unbelievable team mate & centre partner @Gordonwdarcy was for 15 years. Class is permanent as is the internet pic.twitter.com/2hOZas4nct

Not to be outdone, D’Arcy replied in true style:
Thank you @BrianODriscoll we had a good run at it. that Internet thing is terrible.. pic.twitter.com/Yxo6gbjdWc — Gordon D’Arcy (@Gordonwdarcy) May 4, 2015
H/T to JOE.ie for this one!
