From April 30th, taxi fares will increase.
National fares are expected to go up by an estimated four per cent as the new Taxi Regulation Act 2013 (Maximum Fares) Order 2015 comes into effect.
So if you are a regular taxi user, you’ll want to make a note of some changes.
There will only be two bands from now on (A and B). Within these the price per kilometre has been increased.
You will also find that the meter will start to rise after 500 metres (previously 1,000 metres) or 85 seconds (previously 170 seconds).
It’s not all about increases though as the initial charge has been reduced from €4.10 to €3.60 for Standard journeys (between 8.00am and 8.00pm).
