A 38-year-old man has been cleared of all charges for the alleged rape of an Irish student in New York in 2013.

Mr. Jason Lee had been accused of raping the young woman following a party at a holiday home in the Hamptons.

The Irish woman, who was aged 20 at the time, was said to be at the end of her J-1 visa when she arrived at the Hamptons.

Closing arguments were delivered before Judge Barbara Kahn at the courthouse on Tuesday after Mr. Lee had waived his right to a jury trial.

Judge Kahn delivered the verdict of not guilty in court yesterday, clearing him of all three charges to include first degree rape, sexual misconduct and assault.

The judge stated that the prosecution had failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
