We all know that keeping your health in check while you’re in college can be a bit of an ordeal. Mainly because you’re super-stressed with lectures, you’re flat broke and you’re leading a less than saintly lifestyle…
However, a new survey conducted by health insurance company Bupa, has revealed that when it comes to college life, healthy living just isn’t a priority for all the bright, young academics out there.
Which is worrying given the fact that college can have a major impact on your health if you’re not sensible (we’ve all been guilty of surviving on a diet of takeaways and drinking a little bit more than we should, ahem…)
Anyway, according to the survey, a third of students haven’t been to the dentist once since they started their college course. And, cavities aside, only 18 per cent of the students surveyed said that they ate their five portions of fruit and veg every single day.

Do you think it’s hard to lead a healthy lifestyle while you’re in college?
The study also highlighted the more serious side of things, with a fifth of students admitting that they have experienced depression within the last year and 40 per cent of this number said that they would appreciate the opportunity to talk to someone about their problems. Although more female than male students said that they would happily talk about their issues.
Okay all you students, we want your honest opinion – do you think it’s hard to lead a healthy lifestyle when you’re in the middle of a degree/postgrad programme?
