A man who participated in Channel 4’s First Dates TV series has revealed he received death threats following his stint on the show.

Sam Reece was taking part in the dating show when viewers saw him ask his date is she would mind splitting the bill.
Speaking to The Mirror, Sam said:
“Obviously the show was edited in a certain way that made me look bad, but I’m really not like that personally.
“We actually had a laugh on the date. It was a really expensive meal, like £350, and I knew I wasn’t going to see her again, so what’s wrong with asking her to split the bill?”
It seems some viewers thought there was a big problem with asking a date to split the bill, with one viewer allegedly threatening that the ‘next time he [Sam] was in Manchester, he was dead’.
Despite the audience outrage, it seems Sam’s date didn’t mind the request at all – even taking up an offer of a second date.
