Adam Henderson was today announced as the winner of this year’s River Island 2015 Fashion Design Bursary.
22-year-old Adam, who hails from Rathgar in Dublin, will receive a €3,500 bursary in addition to a three month internship at River Island’s design studio in London.
This year, the high-street brand asked the graduate class of 15 from the National College of Art and Design to create a capsule collection for spring summer 2015.
Adam’s winning look channelled relaxed 70s vibes and sophisticated floral prints lending to festival style with a high-fashion edge.
The detail in this design is second to none as the young designer mastered handcrafted techinques and laser cutting to achieve something unique.
River Island’s design controller, Lucy Moller, who won the 2006 bursary, judged the designs and spoke about the brand’s hopes for “fresh ideas and energy”.
“The River Island Bursary launched my fashion career and it was so exciting to see the new and exciting talent emerging. We can’t wait for Adam to start his placement in River Island.
“Our industry thrives on fresh ideas and it is so important to inject new energy and life into our design studio and creative teams.
“We are delighted to be amongst the first to witness and embrace the emergence of some of Irelands brightest new stars in the fashion industry”.
