Irish love for Australian soap Home and Away goes deep.
We can’t really pinpoint why we love the daytime soap so much. Part of us think it’s the weather, others the fact that if you ever find yourself in a spot of bother (flat tire, cheating partner, accused of murder) Mr. Stewart will sort it out and magically make all your troubles disappear but for others, it’s possibly got something to do with cast. Love it or loathe it, you have to admit that the good people behind the hit show know how to give us something pretty to look at.
So, what do you do if you’re desperate to meet a native but can’t afford the plane fare? Summer Bay’s resident bad boy done good Daryl ‘Brax’ Braxton will be hitting up Irish clubs during December and January during an official ‘going on the p*ss’* tour of Ireland. We can’t help but question actor Steve Peacocke’s motives and it does seem a little bizarre that he’s coming to Ireland but hey, who cares when a photo op like this presents itself. He does have an Irish ‘cara de mo chroí’ tattoo after all. Brax/Steve will kicking off proceedings on December 29th at the Palace Bar, Athlone but only until 11pm where he’ll make a dash to Mantra Nightclub to finish off the night. Word is the kebabs in Athlone weren’t to his taste.
Might want to pack the thermals Brax, there’ll be no going topless on these shores…
The next night, Brax/Steve will be making an appearance in the capital in the Red Cow Hotel before heading down to Cork on the 31st to ring in the New Year in a venue yet to be announced – presumably to off-set bus loads of young wans taking over the streets of Cork, Beatles style.
Brax/Steve will then head up north on January 1st to Diesel nightclub in Cavan to attend the Teenage First event.
The Brax in Ireland website braxinireland.com (yes really) stipulates that club goers can get a photo taken with the star but states that only two customers per photo are allowed and entry to the clubs does not guarantee a photo. We just hope that the Home and Away hunk isn’t roped off in some makeshift VIP area hidden from view.
